    Passing of handgun legislation necessary - Deasy

    The Dáil has voted to pass the final stages of the Criminal Justice Miscellaneous Bill which included firearms provisions intended to restrict the licensing handguns. The issue has been raised repeatedly by Fine Gael Deputy John Deasy who has expressed concern about the six-fold increase in handgun licenses since 2005.

    State agencies and especially the IDA must start focusing on Waterford following fears for yet more job losses in the city, with fears that Bausch & Lomb may announce 105 redundancies, Fine Gael Waterford TD John Deasy has said.
